Brighton College is one of the UK’s leading independent schools, educating girls and boys aged 3–18. Named United Kingdom School of the Decade by The Sunday Times, the College combines exceptional academic results with a pioneering spirit, culture of kindness, and distinctive sense of place on the Brighton seafront.
The College approached us to design and build a new website that would capture all of this — something fresh, modern and distinctive. The goal was to create a digital experience that reflects Brighton College’s forward-thinking reputation while honouring its rich history and traditions. Above all, the site needed to engage prospective families, drawing them into the story of the College and inspiring them to take the next step.
From the outset, it was clear that Brighton College’s story goes beyond academic success. The College is defined by three core values — curiosity, confidence and kindness — which shape every aspect of school life. The new site needed to express these values not as abstract ideas, but through the experiences and voices of its pupils.
Equally important was the College’s location. Just 400 metres from the sea, Brighton embodies creativity, openness and an international outlook. The design reflects this energy — a sense of possibility and connection to the wider world. The site needed to feel like an invitation: modern and dynamic, yet also warm, approachable and rooted in its community.
Drawing on Brighton’s brand guidelines, the visual language combines a sophisticated palette of navy, gold and soft greys with bold typography and a tone that is both passionate and welcoming. Photography takes centre stage, celebrating the individuality of pupils and the vibrant life of the College — from the buzz of the classroom to the drama of the coastline.
Subtle animation and movement add moments of delight, while allowing imagery to lead the narrative. The aesthetic is clean, confident and contemporary — a digital reflection of Brighton College’s reputation as one of Britain’s most innovative schools.
The website was designed around the needs of prospective families. Clear navigation and sticky calls to action make it easy to enquire, apply or book a visit. The architecture guides users effortlessly through Nursery, Prep, College and Sixth Form, showcasing both the continuity of the educational journey, while highlighting the distinctiveness of each stage.
A mobile-first build ensures a fast, responsive experience across all devices. Integrated admissions forms and clear pathways to key information make the process simple and intuitive. Social feeds, news stories and multimedia content are presented in engaging ways, creating a site that feels alive and constantly evolving.
The result is a website that places Brighton College firmly at the forefront of education — honouring its heritage while confidently looking to the future. It embodies the qualities that earned it the title of School of the Decade, presenting a vibrant and authentic portrait of school life.
Parents and pupils now encounter a digital experience that feels vibrant and authentic, mirroring the life of the College itself.
